If you live in Delaware County PA (DELCO), you probably know of coach Justin McQuaid. If you don't know him, you might recognize his face, because this guy is at every sporting event (likely coaching): Lacrosse, Box Lacrosse, Flag Football, Wrestling, etc. His amazing wife (Jamie) has accepted the fact that if she wants to see him, it's not going to be in their house.
We asked all of the Jr Jags Lacrosse coaches to answer the following questions:
Why do you love lacrosse?
The game of lacrosse is the perfect combination of every single sport out there. It's a game where you are not measured by or more valued by your size, it's your heart that separates you from the person next to you. When I am on the lacrosse field whether as a player or coach, the game gives me peace.
What are your success metrics for this lacrosse season?
I want our players this year to have fun, learn the game, make friends, and develop positive life skills through the sport I love.
What’s your favorite coaching memory / experience with youth lax that you’d like to share?
My favorite lacrosse memory all-time was when I was the Head Coach at Interboro and we beat Council Rock South (coached by now GVHS coach Joe Kivlen) in overtime to make the state playoffs for only the 2nd time in school history. Also, coaching my 3 boys has been a lifelong dream and I appreciate every opportunity I get.
Turns out it's not where, but who you're with that really matters...Coach Justin McQuaid knows a little bit about lacrosse and helping young athletes reach their potential:
Playing experience: Garnet Valley HS 97-01, Elizabethtown College 01-05
Coaching experience: Head Coach Arch. Carroll HS 05-07, Off Coordinator Garnet Valley HS 08, Head Coach Interboro HS 09-14, Def Coordinator Ridley HS 15-18, GV Youth 18-Present
